Who we are and what this policy covers
Sensify Data is a mobile application published by Sensify S.A.S. ("Sensify", "we"). This policy explains how the app accesses, collects, uses, and shares data.
Sensify Data is a professional field tool. Accounts are provisioned by the client organization that operates the refrigeration units ("coolers") being monitored. The app is not intended for general consumer use and is not directed to children.
If you have questions about this policy, write to info@sensify.com.ar.
Data we access and collect
Account data: the email address you use to sign in and the authentication tokens issued for your session. Sign-in is handled through Amazon Cognito.
Precise location: GPS latitude, longitude, accuracy, and the timestamp of the reading. Location is collected while you are using the app and also in the background, including when the app is closed or not in use. The section below describes this in detail.
Bluetooth device data: for each cooler beacon detected nearby we collect its Bluetooth MAC address, its namespace and instance identifiers, the raw advertising payload, the scan timestamp, and the measurement history stored on the beacon, such as temperature and door-opening records, which is downloaded over a Bluetooth connection.
Device and app data: your phone model, Android version, and the installed version of Sensify Data. This is attached to each record so we can diagnose data-quality problems.
Diagnostic and usage data: crash reports, error traces, and in-app usage events, described in the third-party services section.
How and why we access location, including in the background
Sensify Data exists to record where each monitored cooler is and what condition it is in. The location of your device at the moment of a scan is what allows a cooler to be placed on a map and its readings to be attributed to a site.
Android additionally requires a location permission for any app that scans for Bluetooth Low Energy devices, even when the app does not use location for any other purpose.
The app scans on a repeating cycle from an Android foreground service. That service keeps running with the screen off, while the app is in the background, and after you have closed the app, and it starts again automatically when the device reboots. While it is running, a permanent notification is shown in the status bar.
Because scanning continues under those conditions, Sensify Data requests the "Allow all the time" background location permission (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION). This permission is required, not optional: without it the app cannot perform its core function and background scanning will not run.
Each location reading is stored on your device together with the corresponding cooler scan and is then uploaded to Sensify servers as part of that record.
We do not use location for advertising, ad targeting, or profiling, we do not build a movement history about you as an individual, and we do not sell location data.
You can withdraw the permission at any time in Android Settings, under Apps, Sensify Data, Permissions. If you do, the app stops collecting cooler data.
How we use the data
To detect nearby coolers, download their measurement history, and associate each reading with the place and time it was taken.
To synchronize those records with the Sensify cloud platform so that the client organization can monitor its equipment.
To authenticate you, keep your session valid, and apply the scanning configuration assigned to your organization.
To detect, diagnose, and fix errors and crashes, and to understand how the app is used so that we can improve it.
To protect the service against unauthorized or fraudulent use.
Who we share data with
Amazon Web Services: cloud hosting, storage, and authentication through Amazon Cognito for the Sensify platform.
Mixpanel: product analytics. It receives your email address as a user identifier together with in-app usage events. It does not receive location data or cooler data.
Sentry: error and crash reporting. It receives technical diagnostic data and a non-reversible hash of your email address instead of the address itself. It does not receive location data or cooler data.
The client organization that provisioned your account, which can access the cooler records collected through it.
Authorities or third parties where disclosure is required by law or is necessary to protect our rights.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertising networks.
International transfers
The providers listed above may process and store data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. We rely on contractual safeguards with those providers to protect that information.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS with certificate pinning.
Authentication tokens and configuration secrets are stored on the device using encryption backed by the Android Keystore (AES-256-GCM) and encrypted preferences.
The app checks whether the device shows signs of being rooted or otherwise compromised.
Access to cloud infrastructure is restricted to authorized personnel through identity and access controls, private networks, encryption in transit and at rest, and audit logging.
Retention
Records that have been synchronized successfully are deleted automatically from your phone 7 days after the scan.
Records stored in the Sensify cloud are retained for the duration of the service relationship with the client organization that operates the monitored equipment.
Account data is retained while the account is active and is deleted after a deletion request.
Diagnostic data held by Sentry is retained for up to 90 days.
Your rights and choices
You can grant or revoke the Bluetooth, location, background location, and notification permissions from Android settings at any time.
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by writing to info@sensify.com.ar.
You can request deletion of your account by following the steps on our account deletion page.
If you are in Argentina, you may also contact the Agencia de Acceso a la Informacion Publica, the national data protection authority.
Children
Sensify Data is a workplace tool intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date shown above corresponds to the current version. When changes are material we will provide notice through the app or another appropriate channel.
